So its February 2010 . How are the resolutions doing ? Thought You’d like to know about Dr. Kevin Hogan’s article. I’ll tell you a little bit and then give you the link to the original post. I recommend reading that article in full.  Its something I myself am following in my life. Its a great article. I hope you take it to heart and follow it. Cheers.

…problem is that you see bad behavior rewarded over and over again, and you want to do what the bad behavior guys do.

Above and below are quotes from the article.

If you thought passing this “Health Care Bill” was a grand stroke, you can now re-evaluate that thought…because that kind of thinking to be forced upon a nation will continue to shred the ethical fabric of many of those living in the nation. It’s not a political issue. It’s a psychological issue.

A) Never reward behavior you want eliminated.
B) Don’t make resolutions and have someone else be responsible for it.
C) If you want something, YOU pay for it.

People are rewarded for their bad behavior. It may not be much of a reward but it is a reward none the less. Results require effort. It really isn’t what we are wired to do. Effort is uncomfortable, intense and well involves work sometimes.

Decide which of your statements are more important. Achieving the resolutions or the short term joy you get in dodging. Everyone has dodged or given up . Me too. Its not about feeling guilty of your past. Its not about letting your previous mistakes get you down. Its about learning from them and achieving what you desire. Not to be harsh but you are getting anywhere by quiting. what you get in return more than worth the effort.

You need to make concrete statements . Abstraction will get you absolutely nothing.

Think about it . Which of the two sounds more motivating ?

a) I want to lose weight…20 pounds.

b) I want to look in the mirror and, instead of seeing this grotesque body, I want to see a less grotesque body bordering on tolerable and be proud of myself for what I accomplished…it’s going to be so worth it because I will no longer be invisible in society. I will be able to show anyone that I am in charge of my body and my brain.

Check Out the article here. Its worth your time.
